Participants Needed for Research Study on Experimental Music

Hello everyone!

I am making this post because I have started working on a research project that investigates how and what individuals learn when making experimental music and I need volunteers. I am hoping to find around ten people who will attend most of the Experimental Education Series and Noise Knowledge Consortium shows throughout 2019 (16 events in total) and use those experiences to create some new music. I will be interviewing people between three and five times during the year for roughly 2 hours per interview and also recording practice sessions and performances related to your work with these series.

If you are interested, please email me at pwoods2@wisc.edu. I will send over a consent form for you to read before any interviews or recordings take place, but a few things to consider up front:

  1. Because the population is so small/specific, I cannot guarantee confidentiality. I will be recording interviews and using quotes from the interviews in published papers. That being said, you will be asked for permission before attributing any quotes to your name.

  2. Your participation in this study is voluntary and you will not be compensated. All events in these series are free and open to the public.

  3. Both audio recordings and transcripts of your interviews will be stored on the UW- Madison data base for seven years and then destroyed. These will not be publicly available following the study.

That being said, let me know if you are interested! If you have any questions, feel free to ask as well.

Hope to hear from you!
